Part Time Children’s Librarian

Reports to: Head of Children’s Services

Are you excited about STEM programming, love finding that perfect book for a patron, and enjoy working as part of a team? Eisenhower Public Library District might be the place for you.  We are seeking applicants who can wear many hats, enjoys working reference, and can develop innovative programming for pre-K through grade six. We are looking for a collaborative, patron-oriented team member who can bring new ideas to Kids World and keep up with our busy department.

Requirements:

  • ALA accredited MLS
  • Experience working with children
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends
  • Access to transportation.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Regularly scheduled time at the public Children’s Services Desk
  • Serving as a member of the collection development team
  • Planing and conducting programming and outreach for children and their caregivers or educators

Kids World Technology Clerk (Part-Time) 8-10 hours per week

Reports to: Head of Children's Services

Do you love working with technology and people? This is the job for you. Join our fast paced children’s department assisting people with technology questions and working with our staff on children’s programs. Polish language skills desired but not required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school degree or equivalent
• 2 years customer service experience
• Available to work evenings and weekends
• Access to transportation 
• Computer test required
 
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:  (Illustrative not exhaustive)
• Provides uniformly consistent, respectful, and friendly services to library patrons and fellow staff
• Regularly scheduled at a public service desk in Children’s Services Department
• Directs library patrons to appropriate services
• Assists patrons in using technology, including computers, printers, scanners, copy machines and any other electronic equipment available to the public
• Assists patrons in accessing internet resources, e-mail, and other computer applications
• Registers patrons for programs 
 
Hours:
Tuesday: 4-9pm, Thursdays: 4-9pm & One weekend per month: Saturdays 9-5pm, Sundays 1-5pm

Part Time Building and Security Service Assistant

Reports to: Building and Security Services Manager
 
As a member of our Security Team at the Eisenhower Public Library District, you will enjoy a vibrant, fun atmosphere with creative colleagues who are eager to offer the best in library services. We make it our goal to treat everyone with respect and empathy. Providing patrons and staff with a building that is safe and comfortable is a vital part of reaching this goal.
 
Successful candidates will, among other duties:
Act as security monitor, walking the public areas both in and outside the building
Respond to emergencies from staff and patrons
Liaise with Village law enforcement, fire protection, and other building maintenance vendors
Perform basic custodial duties as needed
Set up and tear down meeting rooms for events and functions
 
Successful candidates should have:
Exceptional communication skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to handle problems diplomatically and firmly and to maintain a comfortable level of order in the library
Ability to use hand tools and routine custodial equipment
Knowledge of and ability to use and troubleshoot PCs and a variety of hardware/software applications
Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills
 
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
1 year experience in custodial or maintenance work
1 year experience working with the public
Available to work evenings and weekends
Access to transportation
Building security experience desirable
 
Starting salary: $11.88/hour

Library Services Clerk

Reports to the Head of Library Services

The Eisenhower Public Library is seeking a Library Services Clerk for the Library Services Department.  Library Services Clerks are responsible for direct customer service including checking books out to patrons, checking books in, making library cards, answering the telephone and other related duties. The ideal candidate would be someone who enjoys working with the public and has a good sense of humor.  Other desirable qualities would include being highly organized, working well in a fast paced environment and possessing a flexible schedule.  Previous customer service experience a plus. Fluency in Polish or Spanish is desirable.

This is a part-time position and applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule – including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Must be available the following hours:

  • Mondays and Fridays: 8:45 am – 5:00 pm
  • Thursdays, 8:45 am – 1:15 pm
  • Every third Saturday
  • Every third Sunday
