Anonymous Teen Writers

Writers in grades 7 - 12 are invited to join in on a weekly hour and a half of socializing, discussion, and, of course, writing! Share your poems and stories in a supportive space or listen to others read.

Make your holiday season extra-special with delicious dishes from your kitchen. Camille Stagg, author of The Parthenon Cookbook, discusses favorite holiday foods, shares recipes, and answers questions. Samples will be served.

Ken Burns' The Vietnam War

Every Friday we'll watch episodes of Ken Burns and Lynn Novick's ten-part, 18-hour documentary series, The Vietnam War, telling the epic story of one of the most consequential, divisive, and controversial events in American history as it has never before been told on film.

Open Workshop Hours

Stop in during open Workshop hours to get creative. Work on a self-directed project with our sewing machines, embroidery machines, digital media lab, or other Workshop equipment. Staff will be available to help out or offer project suggestions.

Mixed Media Painting

Local artist Sandra Dawson offers young artists an opportunity to engage their imaginations and explore multiple techniques and materials in this one-time art workshop. Students will bring their paintings home with them.

Registration starts August 7th for Norridge and Harwood Heights residents with current library cards. All others may register beginning August 14th. Priority for Kids World programs is given to Norridge and Harwood Heights residents.

Bus Trip: Hard Times at Lookingglass Theatre

$55.00 - Lookingglass launches its 30th Season with the return of the circus-infused show, Hard Times. A collection of Dickensian characters inhabits the streets of Coketown where Gradgrind's school churns out joyless students, Stephen Blackpool toils in the nearby mines, and mill-owner Mr. Bounderby presides over it all. Only when a traveling circus alights nearby, and orphan Sissy Jupe enters their world, does a ray of hope shine through.

Crazy 8s Math Club

Grades K-2. Registration required (for the full eight weeks)

Join Bedtime Math's Crazy 8s Club to build stuff, run and jump, make music, make a mess . it's a totally new kind of math club. You'll get to do mischief-making activities like Glow-in-the-Dark Geometry, Bouncy Dice, and Toilet Paper Olympics. You'll take home cool gadgets, too.

Registration is for all eight classes; note that there is no class October 2nd.
