International Games Week

Stop into Kids World to celebrate International Games Week. We will have all sorts of games available for you to play.

Kids Carvey

November 4th,
6:00pm to 8:00pm
Grades 4-6 (with an adult) Registration Required. Workshop Waivers are required to complete registration.

Learn about the new Carvey machine. Everyone will have a turn to design, create, and decorate their own sample project! Parents are required to assist their children with the machine.

In-person and phone registration for kids programs begins Monday, August 5th for Norridge and Harwood Heights residents with valid library cards. Online registration for everyone starts August 12th. Priority for Kids World programs goes to Norridge and Harwood Heights residents.

Adult Book Discussion

Bus Trip: Explore Chinatown

$25.00 - Explore the shops, bakeries, and restaurants of Chinatown with a self-guided walking tour. Visit Chinatown landmarks like the Chinese-American Museum, the Nine-Dragon Wall, or the new Chinatown branch of the Chicago Public Library with its Feng shui-influenced interior design and expansive views of the city. Rendezvous at Joy Yee restaurant to purchase your own lunch off the menu.

Garden Club: Remnants of the Illinois Wilderness?

What was Illinois like 300 years ago when it was home to Native Americans and early European settlers? It was a landscape of prairies, forests, and wetlands, untouched since the last ice age. Today, that wilderness is mostly gone, but some remnants survive as state parks, nature preserves, and wildlife refuges. Naturalist and photographer Jim Rowan explores these natural areas, sharing his discovery of the plants and animals that still remain.

Polish Presence in American Screen Images

After analyzing more than 1300 films featuring Polish characters, Polish American activist and movie buff Joseph W. Zurawski has become the top authority on Polish references in American cinema. With information from his book The Polish Presence in American Screen Images and a selection of film clips, Zurawski presents a historical overview of the Polish contribution to American film culture.

The Rise and Fall of the Berlin Wall

German historian Anette Isaacs, M.A. presents a historical overview of the period from 1961 to 1989 when the Berlin Wall stood as a physical and ideological divide between East and West Germany and a tangible metaphor for the Cold War.

Veterans' Breakfast

We're saying thank you to the courageous men and women who have served our country by offering current service men, women, and veterans a free pastry and a hot beverage followed by a photo slideshow, music, and reminiscing.
