Simon & Garfunkel: Sound and Then Silence

If you took the musicality of The Beatles and matched it with the lyricism of Bob Dylan, the result might be Simon & Garfunkel. Often considered the thinking person's rock 'n' rollers they were also one of the most successful musical acts of the 1960s. Music historian Gary Wenstrup will trace the arc of Simon & Garfunkel's career.

Chakras and Energy Healing

Chakras are the 7 energy centers in your body. Each chakra represents different emotions and feelings. When combined with energy healing or "Reiki" you can create a truly unique experience on the journey to knowing yourself better.
This workshop also incorporates the use of crystals and pendulum work.

Tour the Newberry Library

It's been free and open to the public since 1887 and this is your chance to see their newly renovated space and view their new exhibit focusing on the American Midwest. Svengoolie has been the premier horror show icon of Chicago, since multiple Emmy award winner Rich Koz became the hand-picked successor to the original Svengoolie back in the late '70s. Meet Sven and after a break watch Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein.

Democracy in America: Tea at Hull House with Jane Addams

A crusader for social justice, Jane Addams devoted her life to caring for the underprivileged and oppressed including workers, women and children. Hull House, her center for social work in Chicago, became known as one of the most famous settlement houses in America. In 1931 Addams was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Enjoy an afternoon with her as presented by Betsey Means of Womanlore.
