Anonymous Teen Writers

Writers in grades 7 - 12 are invited to join in on a weekly hour and a half of socializing, discussion, and, of course, writing! Share your poems and stories in a supportive space or listen to others read.

Big Kids Storytime

Storytimes offer great opportunities for kids in the proper grade range to learn and have fun. Big Kids Storytime is specifically designed for children who are in kindergarten through second grade.

Crochet a Ribbed Infinity Cowl

$5.00 - Crochet an infinity cowl to keep you warm until spring arrives.  Yarn, crochet hook, and project guide included. This project is for adults and teens in 7th grade and up with basic crochet skills.

Kids Resin Art

Grades 4-6. Registration Required

Make some unique art with resin. Watch liquid turn into solid plastic right before your eyes.
Workshop waivers must be completed in order to complete registration.

Making Marshall Field

7:00pm to 8:00pm
Ingredients: a muddy, scrappy, western town. Add Potter Palmer, Cyrus McCormick, George Pullman, John G. Shedd, Daniel Burnham. Stir in wheat, corn, cattle, hogs, railroads, and Paris fashions. And who was at the center of it all? Marshall Field. Historian RJ Lindsey portrays Field, the greatest merchant in American history.

Modern Times Film Series: Rocketman

The Modern Times Film series showcases new additions to the library's movie collection. This month's movie will be Rocketman.

Battle of the Books

March 11th,
4:00pm to 5:00pm
Battle of the Books challenges students in grades four through six to become familiar with literature. Comprehension and retention are put to the test in a Jeopardy style battle between the teams.

Area schools create their own teams and gather at the library to compete in a five-week battle on questions derived from selected books. See your school's Battle Coach to sign up.

Train Songs of America

March 11th,
7:00pm to 8:00pm
Hop aboard folk musician Dean Milano's presentation of train-themed tunes from America's past, from the well- known to the obscure. Along the way you'll hear railroad stories and see artwork of trains throughout history.
