Drop-in Junior Storytime

Join us for finger plays, songs, and fun! Storytime will last for 45 minutes to an hour depending. Child must be between 3 and 5 years in age to participate. Sign in at the Kids World desk. Priority for children's programs is given to Norridge and Harwood Heights residents. Be sure to check out our storytime guidelines.

A Grimm Game

Can you survive the Grimm Fairy Tales? In this game, look out for disguised wolves, and, of course, never enter the candy cottage.

Friends Book Sale

Look for the Friends of the Library in the Book Sale room on the first floor, next to the Quiet Room on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month to support the library and find great deals. Hardcovers, DVDs & CDs: $1.00. Paperbacks: 50 cents.

Hollywood Awards Contest Entry Forms Due

Look for Academy Award Contest entry forms in the library. Check off your selections from this year's nominees. Entries with the most correct answers will be eligible to win prizes. In the event of a tie, prizes will be awarded by means of a random drawing. One entry per person please. Entries will be accepted at the Answers Desk until 5:00 pm on Sunday, February 26th.

Brownie Wise: The Original Tupperware Lady

Earl Tupper may have invented Tupperware but single mother Brownie Wise made his plastic containers famous. Leslie Goddard portrays Brownie Wise and tells you how her pioneering sales approach transformed a business. Presented by the Friends of the Eisenhower Library.

After Hours Awards Party

Battle of the Books 4

March 1st,
4:00pm to 5:00pm
Battle of the Books challenges students in grades four through six to become familiar with literature. Comprehension and retention are put to the test in a Jeopardy style battle between the teams. Area schools create their own teams and gather at the library to compete in a five-week battle on questions derived from selected books. See your school's Battle Coach to sign up.

Garden Club Event: Plants for Sustainable Development

Join the Garden Club this month as we welcome Design/Build Residential landscape contractor Kim Kaulas. Learn the environmental benefits of plants and planting, eco-friendly gardening tips to implement in your own garden, and smart landscaping design considerations. Her website is www.kimkaulas.com. Howard Knotts: World War I Flying Ace

March 3rd,
2:00pm to 3:00pm
Howard Knotts was one of only five World War I flying aces from Illinois. Historian Tom Emery relates Knotts' wartime exploits, shooting down six enemy planes in a single month and destroying German planes while in transport to prison camp. Through wartime letters and first-hand accounts Emery create a portrait of a fascinating, brave individual who was 100% hero.

It's A Doo Da Day
