Backstage Tour at Lyric Opera

April 19th,
8:45am to 2:30pm
$25.00 Lyric Opera of Chicago invites you to experience the Lyric Opera House beyond the footlights with this private docent tour. Pair this with West Side Story at the Lyric in May. Lunch on your own after the tour.

Registration begins February 4 for Norridge and Harwood Heights residents with valid library cards. All others may register beginning February 11.

Teen Music Club

Musicians of all levels in grades 7-12 are invited to hang out with friends and geek out about music. During each session, we'll talk about music, write songs, learn some instruments, and make recordings in the Workshop studio. Bring your ideas, instruments, and friends.

Tromp l'oeil: Fool the Eye

Robert Munman presents illusionistic art -- art that uses realistic imagery to create optical illusions that look three dimensional --  from history to the present day. How much can your eye be fooled?

But did you know that they were made world famous by an adventurous Bavarian Jew who combined his marvelous business sense with German ingenuity? Join German Historian Anette Isaacs, M.A., for a fascinating journey into the days of the Gold Rush and learn about Levi Strauss and his amazing life!

Meditation for Inner Peace During Turbulent Times

We are living in a time that feels often confusing and stressful. People are more anxious and there is often a struggle to find ways to stay positive and true to our inner core. Incorporating meditation in our lives can be the change that can make a big difference. Join us for this program during National Meditation Month.

West Side Story at Lyric Opera

Tony and Maria are two wide-eyed teenagers from opposing gangs who fall in love. As their friends and family battle with one another, Tony and Maria long for "a place for us.somewhere." Their songs illuminate every scene and permeate our culture, from the romance of "Maria" and "Tonight" to the exuberance of "America" and the humor of "Gee, Officer Krupke." Add to that the bold, sexy, iconic dances of Jerome Robbins that smolder and sizzle with energy, and you have a musical-theater experience you'll never forget. Lunch is not included.
