Bus Trip: Ma Rainey's Black Bottom at Writers Theater

$40.00 - In August Wilson's classic play, what begins as a routine recording session becomes more strained as tensions rise between the members of a blues band and the owners of the recording studio. The white producers mean to exploit the talents of the band-especially the gifted and impulsive Levee-but when Ma insists on having things her way the session builds to an unexpected and searing climax.

Battle of the Books

March 13th,
4:00pm to 5:00pm
Battle of the Books challenges students in grades four through six to become familiar with literature. Comprehension and retention are put to the test in a Jeopardy style battle between the teams.

Area schools create their own teams and gather at the library to compete in a five-week battle on questions derived from selected books. See your school's Battle Coach to sign up.

Classic Film Series: Watch on the Rhine

Deliciously Fictitious Book Club: The Secret, Book & Scone Society

Join us every other month in Fannie's Cafe to discuss culinary-themed mysteries and sample delicious recipes pulled from the pages of the books.

This month's book will be The Secret, Book & Scone Society by Ellery Adams.

Nora Pennington has a special talent: prescribing the perfect novel to lighten a reader's burdens. But when a businessman is found dead before keeping his appointment, Nora forms the Secret, Book, and Scone Society to solve the murder.

Books are available to borrow at the Library Services Desk one month before each meeting.

Learn to Paint

Everyone can be an artist! Learn a new artistic style by painting large pictures with tiny dots.

Anonymous Teen Writers

Writers in grades 7 - 12 are invited to join in on a weekly hour and a half of socializing, discussion, and, of course, writing! Share your poems and stories in a supportive space or listen to others read.

Teen Yoga

Midterms got you stressed? Nicole Bujewski from Time In Yoga helps you learn to relax and reduce stress. All equipment provided, but bring your own mat if you wish. Grades 7-12.

Bucket drumming began in the 1990s when teenager Larry Wright started drumming on buckets in New York City subways. Today bucket drummers can be found busking in cities around the world. Be a bucket drummer! David Oromaner will teach you everything you need to get started. Buckets and sticks supplied.
