Simon & Garfunkel: Sound and Then Silence

February 12th,
7:00pm to 8:00pm
If you took the musicality of The Beatles and matched it with the lyricism of Bob Dylan, the result might be Simon & Garfunkel. Often considered the thinking person's rock 'n' rollers they were also one of the most successful musical acts of the 1960s. Music historian Gary Wenstrup will trace the arc of Simon & Garfunkel's career.

Registration begins November 4 for Norridge and Harwood Heights patrons with valid library cards. Registration for all begins November 11.

Chakras and Energy Healing

February 18th,
7:00pm to 8:00pm
Chakras are the 7 energy centers in your body. Each chakra represents different emotions and feelings. When combined with energy healing or "Reiki" you can create a truly unique experience on the journey to knowing yourself better.
This workshop also incorporates the use of crystals and pendulum work.

Packing for Retirement

Packing for Retirement provides you with a road map to planning a successful and happy retirement. Longevity is changing the way we live the later part of life and as a result, we need financial tools and resources.James Flannagan, author of the book Packing for Retirement, will show you how to live your best life.

French Twist: Music from France

February 24th,

Singer Petra Van Nuis and accordionist Don Stille regale you with songs about France, music from French composers and tunes from French movies.

Svengoolie! (and some monster movies)

Svengoolie has been the premier horror show icon of Chicago, since multiple Emmy award winner Rich Koz became the hand-picked successor to the original Svengoolie back in the late '70s. Meet Sven and after a break watch Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein.

Turn an old book into your personal statement with scissors, washi tape, paint, charms --anything you want. We'll supply the materials, you supply the inspiration.

Sally Rand, American Sex Symbol

 Her name was Sally Rand and two ostrich feathers in a second-hand store rescued her from obscurity. She would appear in more than thirty films, be named after a Road Atlas, be arrested six times in one day for indecency, and live on as the iconic symbol of the Chicago World's Fair of 1933. She would pave the way for every sex symbol to follow from Marilyn Monroe to Lady Gaga, and would die penniless and in debt. William Hazelgrove will tell you the full story of Sally Rand.
