Teen Yoga

Midterms got you stressed? Nicole Bujweski from Time in Yoga will lead you in yoga for stress reduction and relaxation. All equipment provided, but bring your own mat if you wish. Grades 7-12.

Friends Book Sale

Look for the Friends of the Library in the Book Sale on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month to support the library and find great deals.

Teen Music Club

4:00pm to 6:00pm
Musicians of all levels in grades 7-12 are invited to hang out with friends and geek out about music. During each session, we'll talk about music, write songs, learn some instruments, and make recordings in the Workshop studio. Bring your ideas, instruments, and friends.

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom at Writer's Theater

March 13th,

$40.00 This visceral American classic serves as the 1920s chapter of August Wilson's epic Century Cycle. What begins as a routine recording session becomes more strained as tensions rise between the members of a blues band and the owners of the recording studio. The white producers mean to exploit the talents of the band-especially the gifted and impulsive Levee-but when Ma insists on having things her way, tensions are enflamed and the play builds to an unexpected and searing climax.

Battle of the Books

March 13th,
4:00pm to 5:00pm
Battle of the Books challenges students in grades four through six to become familiar with literature. Comprehension and retention are put to the test in a Jeopardy style battle between the teams.

Area schools create their own teams and gather at the library to compete in a five-week battle on questions derived from selected books. See your school's Battle Coach to sign up.

Al Capone and the 1933 World's Fair

Take a look at Chicago during the darkest days of the Great Depression and the story of the city taking on organized crime to stage the World's Fair. It's a story of a city fighting for survival in the darkest of times; and a shining light of hope called A Century of Progress. A presentation from William Hazelgrove.
