Junior Storytime

Storytimes offer great opportunities for kids in the proper grade range to learn and have fun. Big Kids Storytime is specifically designed for children who are in kindergarten through second grade.

Adult Book Discussion

This month's Adult Book Discussion book will be announced soon.

Copies of the book are available at the Library Services Desk one month before the discussion. If you are new to the club, please consider attending the Monday evening session.

Learn the Carvey: Engraved Bookmark

March 3rd,
6:00pm to 8:00pm
The Carvey machine engraves, carves, or cuts flat materials like wood, plastic, and metal. Learn the basics of the Carvey's software and create a personalized wooden bookmark. Adults and teens 7th grade and up.

Crochet a Ribbed Infinity Cowl

March 4th,
10:00am to 12:00pm
$5.00 - Crochet an infinity cowl to keep you warm until spring arrives. Yarn, crochet hook, and project guide included. This project is for adults and teens in 7th grade and up with basic crochet skills.

In-person and phone registration starts February 3rd for Norridge and Harwood Heights residents with valid library cards. Online registration for everyone starts February 10th.

Battle of the Books

March 4th,
4:00pm to 5:00pm
Battle of the Books challenges students in grades four through six to become familiar with literature. Comprehension and retention are put to the test in a Jeopardy style battle between the teams.

Area schools create their own teams and gather at the library to compete in a five-week battle on questions derived from selected books. See your school's Battle Coach to sign up.

Garden Club Event: How to Brew the Perfect Cup of Tea

March 4th,
6:00pm to 7:30pm
It's a bitter crime to brew your tea wrong. In this hands on class, participants will learn the most effective ways to infuse most any tea. Applying five techniques, participants will prepare several types of teas using a variety of infusers, different types of water, various water temperatures, differing amounts of tea, and brewing times. If you believe all tea is bitter, this is the class to learn how great tea can be if only brewed properly.

Anonymous Teen Writers

Writers in grades 7 - 12 are invited to join in on a weekly hour and a half of socializing, discussion, and, of course, writing! Share your poems and stories in a supportive space or listen to others read.
