Summer Reading Kickoff Party

Celebrate the start of summer with us at Eisenhower! Bring the whole family to register for Summer Reading, get your free tote bag, and then participate in fun events around the library. See if you can puzzle your way through our Escape Room, make summer reading buttons and postcards, learn how to become a bucket drummer, do some crafts and play some games in Kids World, get your picture taken in the Photo Cube, and dig into some celebratory cake! Then wrap up the day with a screening of Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase3:15 PM. Rated PG. 


Kids Summer Reading

Grades 6 & Under
It’s showtime at Eisenhower! Read a book and be amazed at what you discover inside. Register in Kids World starting May 28th for your book log and program details. Stop in once each week from June 10th through August 2nd with your log to earn great prizes. Read 500 minutes or more for extra prizes and a chance to win a grand prize raffle or to participate in our ice cream social. 

Adult & Teen Summer Reading & Listening

Adults and Teens in Grades 7 & Up
Butter your popcorn and grab your candy’s showtime at your library! This year, we’re encouraging reading books and listening to music as lifelong practices that can improve concentration, boost intelligence, and foster creativity. Plus, you can win prizes! For every four books you read or albums you listen to, you’ll get your choice of a free book or CD and earn a chance to win one of our prize packages including $100 gift certificates for AMC Theatres, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Garrett’s Popcorn, The Goodman Theatre, The Pickwick Theatre, or Rolling Stones Records. Register at the Answers desk starting May 28th
The Alphabet Challenge: Earning an extra entry is as easy as ABC: Read a book with a title or author for every letter of the alphabet or work your way alphabetically through our music collections and you’ll get one more chance to win. 

Baby’s First Book Bag
