Last week, Israeli author David Grossman and translator Jessica Cohen were awarded the Man Booker International Prize for the novel A Horse Walks Into a Bar.
Each year the International Prize is given to a book translated into English in order to encourage more publishing and reading of quality fiction in translation.
A Horse Walks Into a Bar, translated from Hebrew, is set in an Israel comedy club where an audience, expecting to see a typical stand-up performance, instead witness the on-stage emotional breakdown of a veteran comic struggling to deal with a decision he was forced to make years ago.
