2017 Top eBooks and Digital Audiobooks

According to OverDrive, 2017 was a banner year for eBooks and digital audiobooks with more than 225 million digital borrows from schools and libraries across the country. That’s more that 14% higher than 2016. Here at Eisenhower we’ve had an even bigger increase. Our patrons borrowed over 19% more eBooks and digital audiobooks in 2017 compared to 2016.

So if you hear a news story that says eBooks are dying, they’re not. Don’t worry, traditional print books are doing fine, too.

I suspect part of the reason for the big jump in digital borrows is our new app, Libby. Dubbed “The One Tap Reading App,” Libby makes it super easy to search for, borrow, download, and read eBooks and audiobooks on your smartphone or tablet. It’s a really great, simple app. I can’t recommend it enough. Libby is available in the Google Play and Apple App stores or at meet.libbyapp.com. If you need help getting started, give us a call at 708-786-2299 or drop by the Answers Desk with your device.
