I was excited to see a new book by Peter Heller, author of The Dog Stars, The Painter, and The Whale Warriors. Heller is an adventure writer. His books all feature wilderness and conquering, or better, interacting with nature. In The River two college friends plan a leisurely canoe trip north to Hudson Bay. Things don't go as planned.

Critically-acclaimed debut author Tommy Orange is the winner of the 2019 PEN/Hemingway Award for his novel There There.
