Nature-based craft ideas can be a bit repetitive, with a parade of simple terrariums, wreaths, and flower pressings. While those crafts do make an appearance among the 52 crafts in this book, it is the fresh ideas that have the most charm for me.
The use of twisted twigs in the Twig Letter craft on page 20 evokes the popular trend of decor with initials or monograms, but with a fresh “twist”. The organic forms and soft colors of the Leaf Pounding fabric on page 40 are made modern by crisp fabric marker outlines. While the final look of the crafts is very dependent on the materials found in nature nearby, the steps and photos are direct and clear and the recommended store-bought supplies easy to acquire, making it simple for the reader to imagine all kinds of possibilities.
Other highlights include the Twig Advent Calendar on page 26, Nature Brushes on page 46, the Leaf Halloween Mask on page 118, and the Leaf Roses on page 130.
