ISLAND WITHIN A CITY
A. Island Within A City Book
i. Progress Report
Director Wittmann reported that she and Julie have made good progress on the photo captions and are currently halfway through Chapter 6 of the 14-chapter book. A few photographs remain to be sourced, and several requests for permission to use photographs are still outstanding. They will meet on Friday to continue working on the captions. The Northwest Historical Society has granted permission to use photographs from its collection.
Joann Pantano submitted the revised layout and formatting incorporating the Board’s feedback.
ii. Book Cover Update
The committee discussed progress on the cover art for the book. Trustee Magnelli has not had time to set up the drone. He will make a point of it.
iii. Title Options
The committee’s three top title choices were included in the committee packets. The Board will vote on its preferred title at the upcoming Board meeting. The committee discussed the three options and conducted a straw poll, with the majority favoring Island Within a City, Part II: Voices of Our Community.
iv. Next Steps
Jennifer Storelli asked whether the Ridgewood principal had submitted any materials. Trustee Ringelstein advised that he had not. Ms. Storelli asked whether photographs from the 250th anniversary event and parade should be included in the book. The committee agreed that several photographs from the event should be included.
Director Wittmann reported that the committee still needs to complete the captions for the photographs. She noted that Chris and Annamarie took excellent photographs, and that Annamarie went above and beyond by speaking with the individuals she photographed to gather additional context.
