The 2024 Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards

Since 1936, the Anisfield-Wolf Awards have recognized books that make important contributions to our understanding of racism and human diversity. Cleveland poet and philanthropist Edith Anisfield Wolf established the book awards in honor of her father, John Anisfield, and husband, Eugene Wolf, to reflect her family’s passion for social justice.

We Were the Lucky Ones on Hulu

The new mini-series We Were the Lucky Ones, debuted on Hulu this week. Based on the popular novel by Georgia Hunter, We Were the Lucky Ones tells the story of a Jewish family determined to survive and reunite after being separated in World War II.

2023 National Book Critics Circle Award Winners

Founded in 1974, the National Book Critics Circle Awards are given annually to honor outstanding writing and to foster a national conversation about reading, criticism, and literature. The awards are open to any book published in the United States in English. The National Book Critics Circle comprises more than 700 critics and editors from leading newspapers, magazines and online publications.

2024 Five Under 35 Honorees

The National Book Foundation announced its annual 5 Under 35 honorees, a selection of five fiction writers under the age of 35 whose debut work promises to leave a lasting impression on the literary landscape. Each honoree was selected by a literary luminary previously honored by the National Book Foundation. Honorees are writers from around the world, under the age of 35, who have published their first and only book of fiction—either a short story collection or a novel—within the last five years.
