A lot of great music topped the charts during 1973, our founding year. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Eisenhower Public Library every other Sunday with selections from Billboard Magazine’s Hot 100 Singles.
Curtis Mayfield’s “Superfly” is the title track from his 1972 soundtrack album for the film of the same name. It was the second single released from the album, following “Freddie’s Dead” and reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. The lyrics celebrate the craftiness and determination of the film’s main character. The song plays over the film’s closing credits.
