When college baseball player Brett Young was recovering from an injury, he decided to try his hand at song writing. Just a few years later his song “Sleep Without You” hit number one on the country music charts.
Today, on New Music Friday, Brett Young follows up that success with his debut full-length record. Its first single, “In Case You Didn’t Know” seems destined to become a staple at the weddings of country-music-loving, Instagrammers and Snapchatters. Inspired by his mom’s habit of saying I love you, “in case you didn’t know,” the song, like the rest of the album, is straight forward, nice-guy, pop country. With just a few tweaks, these songs would sound great sung by Ed Sheeran or even Taylor Swift.
