October is Italian American Heritage Month.
Rich in history and culture, the Italian Peninsula has had a large impact on the United States with a wide range of effects – from the artwork by artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci to explorer-navigator Amerigo Vespucci, for whom America is named after, to the spaghetti & meatball dish showcased in Disney’s movie, Lady and the Tramp.
The Italian culture is well represented in Eisenhower’s Kids World collection of fiction in both picture book and chapter book formats as well as in our nonfiction titles such as biographies and cookbooks. So whether you are delving your family’s own roots or exploring a culture you are unfamiliar with, this is a great month to read!
As part of this month long celebration, a selection of great books have been assembled for your online browsing pleasure, but do stop in the Library, we have even more books to recommend!
