A Special Meeting of the Eisenhower Public Library District Board of Trustees Island Within A City Committee December 21, 2023.

CALL TO ORDER

President Braun, called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

ROLL CALL

Present: Magnuson, Magnelli, Ringelstein, Ross, Krebs. Braun, McPhillips, Masssaro.
Absent: Parent, Blubaugh, Stam.
Also Present: Wittmann, Bacarella, Lewis (7:23 P.M.), V. Bitters (7:27 P.M.), Furfori (7:27 P.M.).

RECOGNITION OF VISITORS

There were no visitors present.

PUBLIC COMMENT

There were no public comments.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

There were no minutes for approval.

ISLAND WITHIN A CITY BOOK COMMITTEE

Progress Report—
Director Wittmann reported about the progress of getting stories to put in the book. Julie attended a Veterans Day ceremony and she handed out a form for the veterans to fill out. We did not get anything back. Dan advised it has been hard getting stories from people. Trustee Ringelstein asked if we published the book tomorrow what Director Wittmann would think our page count would be. Director Wittmann replied that it would be about 100-150 pages. The Trustees will try to commit to getting one person and/or a friend to get a story. Dan advised that he wrote two stories. The committee discussed a few stories about the gas station that blew up and about John Wayne Gacy. They advised that they could do some research on them and potentially add them to the book. Trustee Ringelstein wants to have a “Do you remember?” She said that could possibly be a page filler.

Next Steps—
Director Wittmann reported that they will assess at the next meeting everything they have. Rich wants to know where the gaps are and then they will need to fill in those gaps. Director Wittmann advised that she is not sure where the gaps are, she needs to go through everything. Rich advised that Bobby Crimmins a former police officer may have some stories.

Next Meeting Date—
The committee will meet next on February 15, 2024 at 7:00 P.M.

Trustee Ross moved, seconded by Trustee Magnuson, THAT THE MEETING BE ADJOURNED. A voice vote was taken and the motion carried. The Committee Meeting was adjourned at 7:29 P.M.
