Donation Guidelines

We accept books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays. We are not able to accept donations of magazines or VHS tapes.

All donations become the property of the Eisenhower Library and may be sold at a book sale, passed on to a partner organization, or recycled. Donations may be brought to the library during regular business hours and placed in the bin marked for book donations. For larger donations please call 708-867-7828 to make an appointment.

If you need a receipt for tax purposes, the Library will provide one. We cannot, however, assign a dollar value to your donation.

Currently, most donations are being passed on to Knowledge Exchange, a local organization that works with libraries across the Chicagoland area to manage the removal of library discards and donations. Knowledge Exchange was founded with the mission of keeping books out of the trash and getting them back into the hands of the people who want them most. Books that are not marketable to new readers are redistributed to a variety of organizations including other libraries, bookstores, and charities. Those that cannot be reused are responsibly recycled.
