Facebook Book Club: Big Girl, Small Town

October, 2021.

Join us in the Eisenhower Library Book Club Group on Facebook, a place to read and discuss books with our community. We’ll choose a new book every month and share discussion questions, author interviews, recommended read-a-likes, and anything else we can think of to enhance your reading experience. Share your thoughts as you read the book.

This month’s book is Big Girl, Small Town by Michelle Gallen.

Majella O’Neill is happiest out of the spotlight, away from her neighbors’ stares and the narrow-minded gossips of the small village in Northern Ireland where she grew up during the Troubles. But underneath Majella’s seemingly ordinary life are the facts that she doesn’t know where her father is and that every person in her town has been changed by the lingering divide between Protestants and Catholics. When Majella’s existence is upended by the death of her granny, she comes to realize there just may be a whole big world outside her small town.
