The Meeting of the Eisenhower Public Library District Board of Trustees Island Within A City Committee February 16, 2023.

CALL TO ORDER

President Braun, called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.

ROLL CALL

Present: Braun, Magnuson, Magnelli, Ross (6:43 P.M.).
Present Electronically: Parent.
Absent: Krebs, Ringelstein.
Also Present: Bacarella, Wittmann, committee members Blubaugh, Stam, and Rich Massaro.
Absent: McPhillips.

COVID DECLARATION

Declaration by the Board President that a fully in-person meeting is not Practical or Prudent because of COVID.

RECOGNITION OF VISITORS

There were no visitors present.

PUBLIC COMMENT

There were no public comments.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Trustee Magnuson moved, seconded by Trustee Magnelli, THAT THE ISLAND WITHIN A CITY COMMITTEE MINUTES HELD JANUARY 19, 2023 BE APPROVED. A roll call vote was taken and the results were as follows: AYES Magnelli, Magnuson, Ross, Parent, Braun. NAYS None. ABSENT Krebs, Ringelstein, Ross. The motion carried.

ISLAND WITHIN A CITY BOOK COMMITTEE

Progress Report—
Director Wittmann reported that Trustee Ringelstein advised that multimedia club is almost done with their interview video. Julie reported that Joanna from Norridge Village Hall reached out to her and gave her information regarding Myron T. Petrakis who grew up here. She will try to schedule an interview with him. She spoke to Mark Dobrzycki and asked if he could write an essay. He told her that he would look over the essay prompts. Director Wittmann played the video that the staff created for the Island Within A City book. It has been posted on the library’s Instagram page and everyone is encouraged to share it. Someone from Iggy’s reached out to Julie. Penny reported that she received a bunch of stuff from Kevin Szafllik. She will include links to his information in the drive.

Proposed Chapter One—
Director Wittmann is still gathering information to help write the first chapter.

Next Steps—
The committee discussed the next steps.

Next Meeting Date—
The committee will meet next on March 16, 2023 at 7:00 P.M.
