According to author R.L. Stine, his first aspiration was to be a comic book creator. Now he’s getting his chance. A few days ago, on his Twitter feed, the Goosebumps author teased an upcoming project with Marvel Comics. Now we know he’ll be writing a limited series starring Man-Thing.
If you haven’t heard of Man-Thing, I’m not surprised. He first appeared in a 1971 issue of Savage Tales. He’s basically a plant monster created when a scientist messing around with an experimental serum gets attacked by some spies, falls into a swamp, and then gets hit by some mysterious magical force. He’s silly and scary and a perfect fit for R.L. Stine who has big plans for his new series.
“I’m going to do a lot of action and a lot of great violence and make it creepy, but I’m going to make it funny at the same time. It’s what I try to do in my books.”
Look for the new Man-Thing comics in March or place a hold on the classic 70’s Man-Thing in the library catalog now.
