David Grann has done incredible research in telling this harrowing true story of the murder of numerous Osage people back in the 1920s in Oklahoma.
At the time, the Osage Indian Nation were the richest per capita people in the world, due to the oil that had been found on their land. Grann is able to put these murders in context describing the history of how the Osage people were forced into moving to this land that the U.S. government assumed nobody would want, how once they found oil they were then told they weren’t competent enough to manage their own money, and how a newly formed F.B.I. uncovered a conspiracy to murder members of the Osage Nation in order to gain their wealth.
Killers of the Flower Moon is a gripping and important, if devastating, true crime story.
