Community Kindness Day is an annual local initiative with the goal of making the world a little bit better place to live in. This year, on Saturday, April 25th, residents of Norridge and Harwood Heights are asked to do something kind for your neighbors, your community, or yourself.

Kindness Crafts
Saturday, April 25, 10:00am-5:00pm
Drop by Kids World or the Workshop to work on a kindness craft or pick up a take and make craft kit. We’ll have projects for crafters of all ages.
Puzzle Swap
Saturday, April 25,10:00am-12:00pm
Refresh your jigsaw puzzle collection by swapping out one of your old ones for a new-to-you puzzle. After noon, all remaining puzzles will be free, even if you don’t have one to swap! Have some puzzles you’d just like to donate? Bring them to the Answers Desk prior to April 25th.
Shipping Supply Recycling
Saturday, April 25, 9:30am-1:00pm
Our partners at EcoShip Chicago, a non-profit aimed at combating waste and promoting sustainable business practices, will be here to collect clean shipping materials for reuse. Accepted items include, flattened cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts. Find more acceptable items at ecoship.org.
Food and Diaper Drive
April, 2026
Throughout April, the Library will be collecting non-perishable food and diapers for donation to the Salvation Army, where they will be distributed to members of our community who need them most.
Random Acts of Kindness Bingo

Visit us today to pick up your Random Acts of Kindness Bingo Card or print your own. Complete any five suggested bingo squares and return your card by the end of April to be entered into a prize drawing.
Kindness Craft Supply Swap

Have craft supplies you no longer need? Looking for some creative inspiration? Join us for a craft supply swap! Drop off unneeded but usable supplies and pick up some new-to-you materials.
New or gently used craft supply donations will be accepted on Friday, April 24th from 10:00am-3:00pm. Those who donate on Friday will receive a ticket for early entry to Saturday’s event. You do not have to make a donation to attend. All items are free!
Crafters with a ticket can attend between 10:00-11:00am
Doors open to the public from 11:00am-1:00pm
Community Cleanup
