Richard Rothstein, author of The Color of Law presents an online exploration of the policies that led to racial segregation in American communities, what can be done to reverse these practices, and how we can work towards racial equity.
The Color of Law appeared on the longlist for the 2017 National Book Awards and Publishers Weekly’s Top 10 Best Books of 2017. It won the 2018 Hillman Prize for Book Journalism and went on to become a bestseller during the mid-2020 resurgence of national interest in racial injustice following the George Floyd protests.
This event is held in partnership with Racial Awareness in the North Shore, the Together is Better Alliance, and mutiple Illinois libraries.
