Earwig and the Witch
Set in 20th century England, a 10-year-old orphan girl gets adopted by a strange couple whose names are Bella Yaga and Mandrake. Bella Yaga is a witch and promises to teach Earwig magic in exchange for being an extra pair of hands around the house. But not all is as it seems, as Mandrake has trapped Earwig in the house and Bella Yaga refuses to teach her magic. Earwig teams up with Thomas, Bella Yaga’s talking cat, to learn magic and fight back against her captors. She succeeds in taking control of the house and gets a visit from a surprise guest.

In the American South, there is something overwhelmingly romantic about the high school years. And, in this town, every coming-of-age event seems to be amplified a bit. Playing on their school’s baseball team, The Giants, two boys experience the extraordinary benefits of being local stars in their own right.
