Island Within A City Book

Progress Report
Dan is working on transcribing Trustee Krebs interview with John Musker and they received an essay from Rob Bochnik. They are wrapping up any transcriptions they may have. The submission period is over. They will check with Jen Kelsall and Michelle Gudzik to see if they want to be interviewed.

Discussion of Hiring an Editor
Director Wittmann asked if they wanted to create a rubric or just create interview questions? How do they want to go about it? Trustee Magnuson advised that they should have consistent questions for each candidate. They are up to about 127 pages. What kind of editing are they looking for? Grammar and spelling or wholistic editing job? Director Wittmann advised that wholistic editing may be necessary. Trustee Ringelstein advised that she does not want an editor to change the feel of the interview and stories. She likes that some are with people’s names and that some are just stories. Trustee Parent recommended a first round of interviews to talk to the editors, then with the second round give them access to source materials and get their rate, and then have them come back with their ideas. The editors could submit a proposal for their vision of the project. They could then get an idea of the editor’s approach. The committee liked this idea.

Next Steps
Gather pictures. Do they include pictures with the chapter topic or just include pictures? Julie advised that she thought each chapter should have pictures.

Next Meeting Date
The committee will meet next on December 19, 2024 at 7:00 P.M.

OTHER BUSINESS

No Report.

ADJOURNMENT

Trustee Krebs moved, seconded by Trustee Ringelstein, THAT THE MEETING BE ADJOURNED. A voice vote was taken and the motion carried. The Committee Meeting was adjourned at 7:15 P.M.
