The Host

The Host

Directed and co-written by Parasite filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, released in 2006, this film follows a three-generation household as they fight for survival from a monster sighted in Seoul, South Korea. A monster that was created accidentally and irresponsibly by American military personnel trying to dispose of toxic chemicals down the sewer lines into the Han River.

I recommend this movie to those who saw Parasite and enjoyed the film. I also recommend this movie to others like myself who have immersed themselves in post-apocalyptic movies during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The best way for me to process this challenging time of the coronavirus spread has been to watch films about people who are also in a quarantine for one reason or another.

This film is rated R and should not be watched by sensitive viewers. The version on Hoopla includes bonus features with deleted scenes and a gag reel.

Categories: Adults.
