In her article “The Lucky Ones” from the October 21st issue of The New York Review of Books, Ruth Franklin writes about the trauma her grandparents endured as Polish Jews during WWII and discusses three upcoming books examining that atrocity, In the East: How My Father and a Quarter Million Polish Jews Survived the Holocaust by Mikhal Dekel, Survival on the Margins: Polish Jewish Refugees in the Wartime Soviet Union by Eliyana R. Adler, and Journey into the Land of the Zeks and Back: A Memoir of the Gulag by Julius Margolin.
