Lia and her family are waiting to board a plane for Montreal –leaving behind her friends and family in Romania. Her grief is eclipse by the aching pains of her first period. Moving to a new country is hard enough, but having a first period? No thanks!

Lia has to learn the ways of living in a different country (a new school, new language, how to communicate with her peers), while also coming to terms with her changing body.

This is a beautiful semi-autobiographical graphic novel that shows how everyone just wants to be accepted.

Recommended for Raina Telgemeier fans or readers in middle school who like realistic fiction about school.
