The Pennymores & the Curse of the Invisible Quill by Eric Koester

The Pennymores

“The zeal of the Illiterates moved beyond the rules against magic writing into the writing of any kind—letters, books, news, any symbols, and all teachings that could lead a child to learn to read or write.”

In this tale of fantasy, writing is forbidden.

Parker Pennymore wants to run away from her family so she can write. There is a lot going on in this book with plenty of imagination. A magic library has books that fly and chirp like birds. Quills fly like darts and paper in the library folds itself into pirate battleships that shoot paper cannonballs. There is an invisible boy, talking animals and tons of adventure.

I highly recommend this book to middle grade and young adult readers!
