Although the story of Rachel Hawkins newest thriller is very modern, it has the feel of the gothic classic Jane Eyre to me, complete with both a Jane and a Mr. Rochester.

Jane is a neighborhood dog-walker who meets the newly widowed Eddie Rochester. Eddie is handsome, and wealthy (offering Jane the kind of protection she has never experienced before). Jane and Eddie start to date and she moves in with him.
