“There’s a trick to spinning lies. You have to embed the truth in there, just a glimmer of it. That’s the part that will catch people, and it’s what makes the rest of your lies sound like truth, too.”
Although the story of Rachel Hawkins newest thriller is very modern, it has the feel of the gothic classic Jane Eyre to me, complete with both a Jane and a Mr. Rochester.
Jane is a neighborhood dog-walker who meets the newly widowed Eddie Rochester. Eddie is handsome, and wealthy (offering Jane the kind of protection she has never experienced before). Jane and Eddie start to date and she moves in with him.
Does he have a wife hiding upstairs? Read it and see for yourself!
