The Wish by Nicholas Sparks

The Wish by Nicholas Sparks

“It’s important to remember that none of us is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. All we can do is try to be the best version of ourselves as we move forward. In this case, if he asks, you can tell the truth, or you can lie. I suppose it comes down to the kind of person you want to see when you look in the mirror.”

Maggie Dawes is a famous photographer who has travelled the world, and now owns a gallery in Manhattan. It is Christmas and she has just discovered it may be her last as her medical condition has worsened.

Maggie wants to make the most of the time she has left.  She spends time with a young man who works in her gallery, telling him about her past.

Pregnant at sixteen, Maggie was sent to live on an island with her aunt. There she met the love of her life, Bryce. However, after giving birth to her baby, her parents whisked her away from Bryce and the baby.

At the end of the story, we discover what happened to the baby.  It is a wonderful read!
