“My abuela is outta church. You know how she gets when I don’t answer her calls.”
This graphic novel tells the story of four best friends, Kim, Tanisha, Davene, and Cookie through five short stories showcasing their lives in the Bronx New York.
The wash day refers to a sort of black sisterhood these women have with each other as they gather to do their hair on wash day. These women are joyful with each other and they are there for each other when things don’t go as planned.
It was fun to read this because these women express so much happiness and resilience.
