Even if you never end up crafting with wood, Woodcraft is one of those books that gets you excited about the possibilities.
The book starts out exploring how to think about sustainable wood as a resource, the best part of the tree for different projects, and then dives right into hand tool projects, including knifework, axework, and turning. The book finishes up with a section on tools and tool maintenance, and on building woodworking hardware. As a DIY-er I immediately geeked out over the homemade pole lathe (foot pedal powered!) and dreamed of making hand carved coffee bag clips, rustic pegs, and whisk brooms for all my loved ones.
