In 2016 we eliminated late fees for residents of Norridge and Harwood Heights.
At the outset of COVID, we temporarily stopped charging late fees for patrons visiting from outside of our district as well. For the safety of our community during the pandemic, we encouraged our patrons to keep their borrowed materials and extended due dates several times over the ensuing months. Some materials have been checked out for a long time period – often twelve months or longer.
Starting on September 6th, just after Labor Day, daily non-resident late fees will be reinstated. At this time, we’re encouraging all patrons to promptly return any overdue library materials.
Materials can be returned in one of our outdoor book drops. We have drops conveniently located near the front entrance of the library building. We also have drive-up book drops on the east side of the building, accessible from Wilson Avenue so you don’t even have to get out of your car.
Some very special and fragile items, such as laptops, should still be returned at the Library Services Desk during regular library hours.
For Norridge and Harwood Heights residents having difficulty leaving home, we can arrange pickup of library materials. Please call the Library Services Desk at 708-867-7828 to schedule a pickup.
If we can be of any further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are glad to help in any way possible.
