Writing in the Margins: Summer 2022

We have some exciting programs and events coming for you this Summer.

In-person storytimes are back! Residents of Norridge and Harwood Heights can register for our popular story times. We will still be offering some virtual storytimes as well, which are open to all.

Beginning in June, we will offer an Adaptive Family Hour once a month on designated Sundays. Kids ages 12 and under with a diagnosis or disability who sign up with their families will be able to enjoy a special hour before the library opens doing crafts, browsing Kids World, and meeting other families.

Adults and kids can enjoy a couple of fun bike programs. In June, join us on Zoom with bicycle repair expert Robert Kaplafka on how to prep your bike for the summer months. On June 30th and July 1st, kids can bring their bikes to the library and decorate them for the upcoming 4th of July holiday.

Interested in stargazing? Learn some basics in preparation for the August supermoon. Adults can come and look at the moon and stars using the library’s telescopes on August 8th, and it’s kids’ turn on August 9th.

Of course, no summer is “summer” at the library without Summer Reading. Read Beyond the Beaten Path is this year’s theme and it starts with a special kick-off on June 4th. Come sign up for the program, pick up your registration prizes, and enjoy a free cone from Rainbow Cone Ice Cream Truck. The program runs through July 30th.

We are also offering Movies in the Parking Lot, book discussions, take & make crafts, and so much more. We cannot wait to spend the summer with you!
