You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria

A telenovela veteran and soap opera sensation fall in love in Alexis Daria’s You Had Me at Hola.

Ashton and Jasmine land leading roles on a new Netflix show, Carmen in Charge. Ashton needs this role to catapult him into Hollywood stardom, and Jasmine needs some good publicity after her ex-boyfriend feeds her to the tabloids. Despite their determination to keep things professional, they can’t deny their very hot chemistry. Will they admit their feelings to one another, or has fame ruined their chances at true love?

This was a fun romance, with two strong leads whose secrets and past heartbreaks made for believable conflict and angst. The scenes from Carmen in Charge were delightfully meta–I’ve never watched a telenovela but if they’re half as fun as what is presented in this book, I’m in.
